MTCSS Working With Environmentally-Friendly Suppliers
Environmental protection is an issue that is growing larger and larger every year. With continuous negative effects from climate change becoming more prevalent, and our impact becoming more important – you want to trust that you’re working with a company who cares about the welfare of the planet.
As an environmentally conscious company MTCSS prioritises not only our own practices, but we also working with suppliers that are equally as environmentally friendly, sustainable and have practices to support this.
Recently, we achieved the ISO 14001: 2015 Environmental Management System certification, and this is just one small example of our sustainable actions.
A few of our suppliers are as follows:
- MTH – Specialising in cold room door solutions
- Nergeco & Dynaco Doors – High speed and sectional door solutions for a range of industries
- MTCSS’ Cold Room Panel Range – thermally insulated cold room panels
Each of these companies have their own environmental mission statement and undertake sustainable practices within their workplaces, in order to contribute to a better world.
MTH as a Sustainable Supplier
MTH believe that the real strength of a company is their ability to respond promptly to change by evolving at the same pace.
Therefore, they are committed to putting consumer needs at the centre of their ideas and making their solutions both sustainable for the environment and beneficial for their customers.
They have recently demonstrated their efforts to reduce the environmental impact of MTH by:
- Making their refrigeration systems and related components more efficient, as a result reducing energy consumption levels
- Increasingly using and promoting green refrigerant gases following the new European regulations (For example, R600 and R290)
- Investing in renewable energy sources through the installation of a new photovoltaic system (a renewable energy technology that converts energy from the sun into electricity) at their Almese plant
Not only this, but MTH have also focused on both optimising their refrigeration systems and deploying high-efficiency components, and are working on a new range of smaller high performance systems – combining their concern for energy consumption and the environment with their customers’ needs.
Nergeco & Dynaco Doors as a Sustainable Supplier
Since both companies were founded in the 1980s, Nergeco and Dynaco have always favoured saving energy in any way possible.
In 2020, Dynaco received the Green Feet Certificate as a result of recycling their electrical waste and equipment – aiming to reduce environmental footprints.
As sustainable high-speed and sectional door manufacturers, their range of solutions is extremely varied and therefore offer the opportunity for lots of different environmentally friendly products. Just some of their energy savings come from:
- Flexible triple-layered curtain with an integrated air mattress
- Their “just in time” rapid rise and high-speed doors
- Nergeco high-speed roll up doors
- The Intelligent Curtain
Furthermore, in the Nergeco branch based in France, they have plans to install solar panels on the roof and improve their waste management systems within the factories – both contributions that will have a positive impact on the environment and their processes.
MTCSS’ Cold Room Panel Manufacturer
Our cold room panel suppliers for MT Chill and MT Freeze, has a commitment to safeguarding the environment . This is why they are EPD certified, and operate using the US LEED V.4 System.
LEED provides a symbol of sustainability, and is a framework for healthy, efficient, carbon and cost-saving buildings. A LEED-certified building addresses climate change and meets ESG goals, supporting the conservation of our planet as a supplier.
In order to achieve the LEED certification, each product can earn ‘points’ by adhering to projects that address carbon, energy, water, waste, transportation, materials and health & indoor environmental quality. This suggests that they not only care about the environment and their contributions, but that they are monitoring and updating their practices as the focus target changes.
They pledge that your initial investment into their range of thermal insulated products is a “guarantee for future savings”.
Recently, they have also developed a new PIR foam called the PIR Supreme which guarantees lower emissions of carbon dioxide and over time, a reduction of energy!
MTCSS’ Supplier Questions
One way in which we demonstrate our attitude towards the preservation of the environment is by working with environmentally conscious suppliers. As of the end of 2021, we have adopted a list of questions that we send out to both our existing and new suppliers and subcontractors.
The purpose of this list is for us to gauge the procedures and plans put in place prior to agreeing work with them, to allow us to understand the company’s goals and expectations.
For example, some of the questions we ask are:
- What are your top 3 environmental objectives for this year? To see their projected plans and whether they are beneficial to the environment.
- Are you registered for ISO 14001:2015 / ISO 9001:2015, and if not are you considering applying for this certification? These certifications let us know that they have been rigorously assessed and have a commitment to both environmental and quality management systems.
- Do you operate a supplier assessment system? So that we can understand if they are working with similar companies who undertake sustainable actions.
As well as this, we ask them to read our environmental policy so that they can understand why we have adopted the approach we abide by.
Protecting the environment is especially important to us here at MTCSS, and we hope that we can continue to work with suppliers and subcontractors who feel the same way.
