Walk-In Chillers, Walk-In Freezers & Ambient Rooms as Part of Cold Room Projects

MTCSS has supplied and installed walk-in chillers, freezers and ambient areas for a variety of industries. Our team has the knowledge and expertise to design a cold room or ambient room to suit your requirements and specifications.

So, what industries do MTCSS work in? We have worked in a huge range of industries across the UK including food & drink retail, food & drink manufacture, agriculture & horticulture, indoor farming, warehousing & distribution, IT & data storage, automotive & aeronautical, pharmaceutical & medical and many more! If you don’t see the industry your business is in the list above – don’t worry! Our team are here to help no matter your industry or requirements.

Walk-in chillers and freezers can be used to store and hold a variety of products – from food / drink products and flowers to pharmaceuticals and vehicle / plane parts. MTCSS design your cold room around what you are storing and how you intend to use it.

Ambient rooms can be with or without temperature control – temperature controlled ambient rooms are ideal for the storage, transport or preparation of products which need to be contained in temperature above +10°C. But ambient rooms without temperature control are ideal for forming areas such as offices, changing areas or prep areas.

The Differences Between Chillers / Freezers & Ambient Areas

Walk in chillers, freezers and ambient areas all have different temperature ranges and these are selected based on the products you are storing. Cold rooms also are designed and built from different panel thicknesses to allow for greater insulating properties where required.

Chiller cold rooms maintain temperatures of between +1°C and +8°C, making them ideal for the storage of food products, flowers, pharmaceutical products and parts which require chilled temperatures.

Freezer cold rooms maintain temperatures from -1°C to -40°C and are generally built with thicker panels than chiller cold rooms for greater insulation to maintain the colder temperatures more effectively.

Ambient rooms can be temperature controlled, maintaining temperatures of between +10°C and +30°C, or they can be built without temperature control. There are multiple reasons you would build an ambient area without the temperature control, for example if you’d like a food safe and easy to clean area, an insulated partition wall or an office space within a warehouse. If you are choosing a non-temperature-controlled space, panels with lesser insulating properties can be used.

Cold Rooms And Ambient Areas As Part Of Your Bespoke Cold Room Project

Once we have designed the cold room size, shape, and panels – then we move onto the other elements which make up your bespoke cold room, from doors and flooring to refrigeration and lighting.

The door systems installed in walk in chiller, freezer or ambient area is vital to provide adequate access for people, products and other items (such as vehicles) which may need to move in and out of your cold room.
