Modular Cold Rooms

Modular cold rooms are an ideal cold storage option for small to medium walk-in chiller or freezer requirements.

They are available in a range of sizes, from 1020mm to 3620mm internally and can still be customised to your requirements, making them suitable for a wide range of industries, including restaurants, hotelsbutchers, delis, breweries, and more!

What is a Modular Cold Room?

A modular cold room is a walk-in fridge or walk-in freezer which is built from interlocking (or cam-locked) insulated panels, which can be assembled in a variety of specific sizes. This results in quick installation and allows businesses to use their new temperature-controlled space within just a day or two – and without interrupting day-to-day running.

As they are made with high-quality cold room panels and materials that offer unmatched adaptability, their easy versatility can benefit any industry and bring energy efficiency to any cold storage.

Since they are quick and easy to set up and dismantle, and provide excellent insulation, modular cold rooms are an ideal choice for businesses that:

  • Require variable cold storage solutions, including seasonal industries
  • May need to expand in the future, allowing for easier company and business expansion
  • Can’t make structural changes to their premises

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a modular room cost?

Modular cold rooms differ in price dependent on varying factors, so it’s difficult to offer a one-size-fits-all price with understanding your requirements.

The reason it’s hard to estimate how much a modular cold room will cost is that it depends on the components you choose. Each cold room component you choose, such as a cold room door or cold room flooring, will be bespoke to you and will therefore create a different price per order.

As a general rule, however, a standard, modular cold room can be cheaper than bespoke cold rooms due to them being set sizes and having fewer elements than a bespoke cold room.

Are there specific requirements for a modular cold room?

There are a range of requirements that you must adhere to when installing a modular cold room, such as:

  • Installing the cold room internally/under a cover
  • Adhering to the correct size of your available space
  • Building on a flat surface
  • Using a well-ventilated area near the power supply
  • Having enough space for your cold room door to open
What is the difference between a modular cold room and a cold room?

Put simply, the main difference between a modular cold room and a regular cold room is the panel system used.

A modular cold room requires you to assemble the insulated cold room panels yourself, without the use of silicone to create the shape, whereas a regular cold room requires silicone, meaning that cold room installation isn’t as straight-forward.

There are also some further differences between the two cold rooms, such as the size, shape, and temperature capabilities.

Modular cold rooms are only suitable for small to medium capacities with temperature ranges from -20 to +10°C , whereas a regular cold room can be any shape and size while adhering to ranges from -40 to +30°C as required.
