What Is A Dual Compartment Cold Room?
Simply put – a dual compartment cold room is one cold room unit, split into two compartments with a partition wall made from insulated panel. These can have various combinations of temperature ranges, for example:
- Chiller and freezer.
- Chiller and chiller.
- Freezer and freezer.
- Chiller and ambient.
- Freezer and ambient.
A dual compartment cold room is ideal if you need to store different products at different temperatures. You may have to store fresh produce between +2°C and +5°C, but then once prepped the food may need to be frozen. Or, maybe you need to age meat products in an ambient temperature but store them in a chiller cold room to maintain their lifespan once fully prepared.
Because the cold rooms are built together, with an insulated panel to create a divide and form two compartments, it can save on space in comparison to two separate cold rooms. It can also save on money in some cases as it can reduce the number of panels required for the build.
