Range of High Speed Doors and Fire Rated Doors for a Cleanroom Environment
MTCSS can supply and install an extensive range of cold room doors solutions – including refrigerated doors for walk-in cold rooms and high-speed rapid rise doors for a wide range of specifications, applications and industries.
Our expert team’s experience, combined with our industry knowledge, means we understand how to design and supply bespoke cold storage solutions for you, whilst adhering to your specific business/industry requirements. And this is exactly what we did recently for our customer with a project based in Swindon.
The MTCSS team completed a multi-phase project with an array of doors from the MTCSS door range, including 6 high speed doors, 2 fire rated roller shutters and 24 fire rated steel doors. We selected the perfect door solutions for the bio-technology company’s requirements.
Whether you’re after a singular chiller cold room door for your restaurant, or a range of different high speed and fire-rated doors for your warehouse – MTCSS can find the perfect solution to suit you!
The project was separated into three phases: high speed rapid roll door installation, fire rated roller shutter installation and the fire rated steel door installation.
MTCSS supplied and installed R-Labo 5 Nergeco high speed doors for the first phase. The R-Labo 5 model is a multi-composite, high-performance door that enhances the sealing and pressure resistance for your temperature-controlled room.
Nergeco R-Labo 5 high-speed doors are the perfect solution for clean environments and have been developed with this in mind – with features including:
- Made from multi-composite materials – smooth surface and weld-free making it compliant with clean room requirements, in addition to being corrosion and paint free
- Just-in-time opening cycle – the door opens and closes to reduce exposure time and reduce energy costs
- Sealing and resistance to pressure differences – designed to operate under pressure differences and to reduce leakage rate
The fire-rating for these doors varied from between 30 minutes and 120 minutes dependent on the client’s requirements. They included a grey Trellebor self-adhesive door seal to create a smoke seal – this is to help prevent the spread of any smoke or fire from entering the room due the tight seal formed around the door.
Another advantage of the self-adhesive door seal is that it can also help to retain the temperature within your temperature-controlled rooms – preventing any energy from being wasted.
Our customer decided to customise their steel fire-rated doors by installing vision panels into a selection of the doors. This is ensure the employees can easily see through the door and into the next room before opening.
Furthermore, windows can also be used within cleanroom areas to see the processes being carried inside – helping to reduce the risk of contamination.
The features of the steel fire-rated doors supplied and installed by MTCSS included:
- 30 minute to 120 minute fire ratings
- Brushed stainless steel kick plates
- ‘Fire door keep shut’ signs internally and externally
- ‘Fire escape keep clear’ signs
- Push bars with opening signs
- Vision panels / windows in various sizes, in Pyroguard and double-glazed dependent on fire rating
The final phase of the project was comprised of MTCSS installing 2no fire-rated roller shutter doors, with a galvanised finish. They had a 120-minute fire shutter and clear opening, along with a push button station and a safety break.
The fire-rated roller shutter doors supplied by MTCSS included the following features:
• Full covering canopy
• Push button station for opening operations
• PP400 auto reset
• Safety break to ensure the safety of employees
When dealing with roller shutter doors and high-speed doors, employee safety is a huge factor that must be considered – emphasising the usefulness of a safety break.
By the end of the project, MTCSS had supplied and installed a total of 32 doors; 6 high speed doors, 2 fire rated roller shutters and 24 fire rated steel doors within the required time frame. Each door offered various benefits to adhere to our customer’s requirements.
We can supply and install a variety of doors to suit your business and its requirements and needs, as well as any standards or certifications that it must adhere to.

Bert De Mooij, Bespoke Chiller Cold Room for Q Flowers Ltd 2021
From coming into contact with MTCSS to the finished product, has been a great and easy process.
The members of the team listened to our wishes and offered us exactly what we needed. From picking the type of cooler machines, the doors, the lights - everything was exactly adjusted to our wishes.
Even though through the COVID period where availability of materials were challenging, the cold room was finished on the date as was planned when signing for the order.
Very professional company from start to finish.
Catherine Hester Fenwick, Ambient storage at Brabourne Wines 2021
‘Brabourne Wine is a small, family run vineyard in Kent. In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a Conservation Area and with listed buildings, we needed to find a solution to store our wine without building afresh or making any material differences to the current buildings. MTCSS were amazingly flexible. They worked with us to develop a solution that fitted inside one of our outbuildings. Given the limitations on space and the requirement to have racking suitable for pallets, virtually everything about the project had to be bespoke but Darren never lost patience with the endless queries in the planning phase. Once on site, the team was professional, friendly, flexible and quick. They have delivered a solution which is perfect for our needs and exceeds our expectations. We are at the smaller end of their usual customer base, but we were never made to feel as though we were any less important than a major supermarket chain. We would certainly recommend them to anybody needing a controlled climate for storage (or any other reason)’

Dual Compartment Cold Room Installation, London
From the beginning I found Gem’s customer service fantastic, out of all of the companies we spoke to for quotes she was the most responsive and attentive. Even when we were still finalising and it wasn’t confirmed if we were proceeding with MTCSS yet, she was always great with keeping in contact to see if we needed anything, and very responsive with emails, and also phone calls.
Andy and Nathan, have been great throughout the entire process. Both have been on hand for any queries we have had and very responsive again to all forms of communication. Everything has been handled promptly and efficiently both before, during and after the build. Any questions we have had they have always gotten back to us with an answer very quickly.
The gentlemen who completed the install here on site, where very friendly and mindful of business operations while completing work. Each day they would check in with who was here in the morning to explain what they would be doing, what access they required, and asked if and how this might affect our operations or customers. Again, they were very clear and open with communication and was happy to help find solutions when we had issues with the shelving.
Overall our experience with you has been very good and we have been left a happy customer. I would also just like to say a thank you to yourself Gem, Nathan and Andy as you have all been very great throughout our customer journey!
