Internal Freezer Cold Room For Fry Fresh Edible Oils
MTCSS can help you build a cold storage solution to improve your business processes and optimise business efficiency, whilst fitting your exact requirements.
Freezer cold rooms are an excellent way to protect, store and support your business’ products and offerings.
Following our previous two installations, our existing customer in Wrexham enquired with the MTCSS team to help support their business needs.
Fry Fresh Edible Oils requested a second freezer cold room to store their products on pallets, as well as the installation of air conditioning for two of their offices.
Freezer Cold Room – Construction
After assessing the site and project requirements, MTCSS got to work with the installation of their new freezer cold room and air conditioning systems.
Their new freezer cold room measured externally at 13.2m x 5m x 3m, with a volume of 183m3 , maintaining an internal temperature of -20°C to support their product requirements.
We used 100mm Quadcore insulated cold room panels to construct the walls and ceiling of the cold room, finished in a white food safe laminate to ensure the cold room complied with the health and safety requirements of the food production industry.
Because Fry Fresh requested a freezer cold room, a flooring solution was required to prevent frost heave and ice build-up.
They opted for 80mm PUR base panels with 12mm plywood foamed in, supported by a 2mm rigidized galv floor plate and a 25mm modular heater mat – allowing them to move stock in and out of the cold room effectively without having to worry about the weight of the product deteriorating the flooring over time.
Cold Room Door Installation
For ease of access when moving products in/out of the freezer cold room, we installed a 1.5m x 2.1m MTH sliding cold room door that was finished internally and externally in white food safe laminate to keep in line with health and safety regulations.
MTH sliding doors are the perfect cold room door solution for industries that require larger door openings and access (EG, for forklift or pallet access), as well as the fact they can be customised to suit your specific requirements – benefitting your business processes in the long run.
Fry Fresh would be transporting their products into the freezer cold room via pallets, so MTH’s sliding door was the ideal option to align with their processes.
Refrigeration Systems and Air Conditioning
When it came to choosing the refrigeration systems, we had to ensure it could support the negative temperature range due to product-specific temperature requirements.
Our engineers installed a 3-phase Danfoss compressor, a Kelvion evaporator, and a control panel for both – allowing Fry Fresh to control and monitor the temperatures in the freezer cold room.
Alongside the refrigeration in the freezer cold room, we installed a total of three Midea air conditioning systems into their main office and small office.
The main office had an internal air conditioning system and a condensing unit installed, and the small office had one wall-mounted air conditioning systems installed to meet their employee requirements.
Temperature Sensors and Lighting Solutions
For additional security over the temperature range in the freezer cold room, we also installed three Airo sensor loggers to notify Fry Fresh via email or text about any temperature fluctuations – allowing them to act promptly if required.
We also installed a total of four Titan LED lighting strips to illuminate the freezer cold room and allow their employees to navigate around the freezer cold room, whilst also minimizing the amount of heat gain from the lights.
After two weeks, the project was completed and Fry Fresh were pleased with the finished installation of their new freezer cold room and air conditioning systems.

Bert De Mooij, Bespoke Chiller Cold Room for Q Flowers Ltd 2021
From coming into contact with MTCSS to the finished product, has been a great and easy process.
The members of the team listened to our wishes and offered us exactly what we needed. From picking the type of cooler machines, the doors, the lights - everything was exactly adjusted to our wishes.
Even though through the COVID period where availability of materials were challenging, the cold room was finished on the date as was planned when signing for the order.
Very professional company from start to finish.
Catherine Hester Fenwick, Ambient storage at Brabourne Wines 2021
‘Brabourne Wine is a small, family run vineyard in Kent. In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a Conservation Area and with listed buildings, we needed to find a solution to store our wine without building afresh or making any material differences to the current buildings. MTCSS were amazingly flexible. They worked with us to develop a solution that fitted inside one of our outbuildings. Given the limitations on space and the requirement to have racking suitable for pallets, virtually everything about the project had to be bespoke but Darren never lost patience with the endless queries in the planning phase. Once on site, the team was professional, friendly, flexible and quick. They have delivered a solution which is perfect for our needs and exceeds our expectations. We are at the smaller end of their usual customer base, but we were never made to feel as though we were any less important than a major supermarket chain. We would certainly recommend them to anybody needing a controlled climate for storage (or any other reason)’

Dual Compartment Cold Room Installation, London
From the beginning I found Gem’s customer service fantastic, out of all of the companies we spoke to for quotes she was the most responsive and attentive. Even when we were still finalising and it wasn’t confirmed if we were proceeding with MTCSS yet, she was always great with keeping in contact to see if we needed anything, and very responsive with emails, and also phone calls.
Andy and Nathan, have been great throughout the entire process. Both have been on hand for any queries we have had and very responsive again to all forms of communication. Everything has been handled promptly and efficiently both before, during and after the build. Any questions we have had they have always gotten back to us with an answer very quickly.
The gentlemen who completed the install here on site, where very friendly and mindful of business operations while completing work. Each day they would check in with who was here in the morning to explain what they would be doing, what access they required, and asked if and how this might affect our operations or customers. Again, they were very clear and open with communication and was happy to help find solutions when we had issues with the shelving.
Overall our experience with you has been very good and we have been left a happy customer. I would also just like to say a thank you to yourself Gem, Nathan and Andy as you have all been very great throughout our customer journey!
