Turnkey Temperature Controlled Solutions in the Pharmaceutical Industry – Part Two

Cold Room Installation | MTCSS

For the last six weeks the MTCSS team have been transforming an empty 153,900m3 warehouse into a chilled area and an ambient area for the storage of pharmaceutical products.

As the main contractor on the project, MTCSS have been overseeing every element of the project’s installation – from the insulated panels to the ambient bespoke ductwork systems – to ensure the project is complete within project deadlines and to strict health and safety guidelines.

Building the chiller & ambient areas : what has the MTCSS team done so far?

In the past 6 weeks, MTCSS have been working consistently on site to install the 29101m³ chiller cold room panels with suspended ceiling and the 14m partition – both built from 150mm Kingspan IPN Quadcore panels to form the warehouse’s chilled area and ambient temperature controlled area.

The hinged doors have been fitted in the chiller cold room, with 5no MTH insulated doors for pedestrian access in and out of the cold room. MTCSS have also cut door openings in the panel ready for the next stage of door installation in the next few weeks.

With the chiller and ambient areas formed, they will need to be temperature controlled – the refrigeration pipework has been fitted ready for the installation of the evaporators to chill the cold room, and the ductwork installation is currently in progress for the ambient system. MTCSS have also been tasked with the temperature control of the offices and the team has installed air conditioning in the downstairs office spaces.

What is left to do on site?

With just a few weeks until completion, MTCSS is on track to complete the project within the strict deadlines. So what is left for the MTCSS team to finish on site?

The remotely operated high speed doors will be installed, with 2no rapid roll doors fitted in the chiller cold room and 1no door fitted in the partition wall for forklift and VNA truck  access/egress

Then we have the temperature control for the warehouse’s two separate areas – the ambient system and ductwork fitting will be completed, and the commissioning of the ambient temperature control, chiller refrigeration and office air conditioning signed off prior to the project’s deadline.

The 153,900m3 warehouse has undergone a huge transformation in the past six weeks, with MTCSS organising and managing every element of the project and its installation. When the project was deadline was moved forward, MTCSS were able to successfully deliver a solution to work with the client to achieve this.
