Freezer Cold Room for Seafood and Fish Storage
Cold rooms are an integral part of many businesses, and without them they simply couldn’t function. Our recent project was an example of that – our customer’s required a walk-in freezer to store seafood products. Without a cold room their products would perish rapidly resulting in losses, so a high-quality walk-in freezer was key to their operations.
MTCSS designed, supplied, and installed a walk-in freezer (also known as a freezer cold room) to meet the customer’s individual requirements. Let’s find out more!
Cold Room Design
The walk-in freezer was designed to the customer’s bespoke requirements and to enhance their day-to-day processes. As the cold room was used to store seafood and food products, it was with cleanliness and food safety in mind.
Installed internally, the walk-in freezer required flooring to ensure the cold room maintained optimal insulation and to reduce the risk of ice build-up and frost heave. Because pallet access was required in and out of the room, a cold room door system was selected to accommodate this, and a ramp was added for ease of access.

Cold Room Panels
To form the 8.5m x 13.9m x 3.1m cold room, MTCSS built the walk-in freezer from 100mm Quadcore IPN insulated panels. Quadcore panels offer lifetime performance, to stand the test of time, and offer leading thermal performance.
Cold Room Door
Accommodating the requirement for pallet access, MTCSS supplied and installed a 2m x 2.5m MTH sliding cold room door with the patented mirror sliding system.

Cold Room Flooring
MTCSS installed a concrete floor with 75mm Styrofoam and 25mm heater mat – the customer required a concrete floor due to the weight of the pallets stored within the walk-in freezer.

Cold Room Refurbishment at Steve’s Family Butchers

From the beginning I found Gem’s customer service fantastic, out of all of the companies we spoke to for quotes she was the most responsive and attentive. Even when we were still finalising and it wasn’t confirmed if we were proceeding with MTCSS yet, she was always great with keeping in contact to see if we needed anything, and very responsive with emails, and also phone calls.
Andy and Nathan, have been great throughout the entire process. Both have been on hand for any queries we have had and very responsive again to all forms of communication. Everything has been handled promptly and efficiently both before, during and after the build. Any questions we have had they have always gotten back to us with an answer very quickly.
The gentlemen who completed the install here on site, where very friendly and mindful of business operations while completing work. Each day they would check in with who was here in the morning to explain what they would be doing, what access they required, and asked if and how this might affect our operations or customers. Again, they were very clear and open with communication and was happy to help find solutions when we had issues with the shelving.
