Freezer Cold Room for Oil Disposal Company, Fry Fresh Edible Oils
Turnkey Walk-In Freezer Installation by MTCSS
In any industry, safety and hygiene levels are imperative – and this includes your cold storage systems. If you’re looking for a new walk-in chiller, walk-in freezer, or temperature-controlled project, MTCSS can create and deliver a bespoke solution.
MTCSS want to help you build a cold storage solution that will improve your business processes, optimise efficiency and fit your exact requirements. This is why we work closely with you to understand your business’ needs to design a cold room bespoke to you.
Our customer in Wrexham, Fry Fresh Edible Oils, trusted MTCSS to make this happen. Their business had grown substantially and they were looking to expand by diversifying their services and products – which is why a walk-in freezer cold room maintaining temperatures of -20°C was the perfect solution for them to store their new products in.
Fry Fresh was established in 2010 and is an oil recycling and disposal company that provides the food industry with a range of services, from the recycling and delivery of oil up and down the country, to branded packaging for your business!
The MTCSS team previously installed a chiller cold room for Fry Fresh when they had outgrown their previous cold storage solution. They were using multiple refrigerated vehicles to store their products overnight, which was not an efficient long-term solution. Fry Fresh was so satisfied with their finished chiller cold room they decided to invest in MTCSS’ services again!
Before the works could begin, MTCSS conducted a site inspection to assess both the requirements of the project from Fry Fresh, and the site itself. This allowed us to get an idea of any provisions we needed to take into consideration before the works began, and to gain a clearer view on what they wanted to achieve from the walk-in freezer.
Once the project had started, the team got to work building the freezer cold room – measuring at 7000mm x 6000mm x 2500m, with a volume of 91m3.
The walk-in freezer was constructed with 100mm cold room panels with a white PVC food safe film laminate internally and externally for a clean and hygienic finish – which is extremely important when dealing with food and high-risk products.
For the cold room floor, MTCSS installed an insulated floor with a 25mm modular heater mat to avoid frost heave and ice build-up on the floor, with a galvanised steel overlay. This was due to the requirements of Fry Fresh as they stored heavy barrels of oil and product within the cold room – we needed to ensure the flooring was able to withstand the weight for a long period of time, and galvanised steel was the ideal material of choice for this due to the durability of it.
Our team installed a 1500mm x 2000mm MTH sliding cold room door with a strip curtain system to help ensure the internal conditions were maintained if the door was left in the open position. The MTH sliding cold room door ensures internal environments are maintained with a superior seal, therefore being the ideal door for our customers’ requirements.
The sliding mirror system itself holds many benefits. For example, it’s comprised of falling bends which ensure a perfect contact between the cold room door and the door frame – providing the best insulation between the inside and outside of the walk-in freezer.
For the walk-in freezer refrigeration system, we selected a split refrigeration system consisting of an external condensing unit and internal evaporator to create the negative temperature and conditions required. These units are compact, easy to install and quiet due to the low-speed fan motors. They are also energy efficient and cost-saving, because it protects the refrigeration unit from over-currents and phase imbalances – meaning they aren’t running more than required.
As part of the turnkey cold room installation, our team installed two LED lights and two LED-emergency lights – choosing LED lighting solutions to minimize heat gain.
MTCSS completed the project to Fry Fresh’s satisfaction, and they were pleased with the overall outcome of their walk-in freezer. If you are looking for a new freezer cold room – we can design and build the perfect solution for you! Whether you need a chiller cold room, walk in freezer or ambient area for your company – we can offer a bespoke temperature-controlled solution!

Bert De Mooij, Bespoke Chiller Cold Room for Q Flowers Ltd 2021
From coming into contact with MTCSS to the finished product, has been a great and easy process.
The members of the team listened to our wishes and offered us exactly what we needed. From picking the type of cooler machines, the doors, the lights - everything was exactly adjusted to our wishes.
Even though through the COVID period where availability of materials were challenging, the cold room was finished on the date as was planned when signing for the order.
Very professional company from start to finish.
Catherine Hester Fenwick, Ambient storage at Brabourne Wines 2021
‘Brabourne Wine is a small, family run vineyard in Kent. In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a Conservation Area and with listed buildings, we needed to find a solution to store our wine without building afresh or making any material differences to the current buildings. MTCSS were amazingly flexible. They worked with us to develop a solution that fitted inside one of our outbuildings. Given the limitations on space and the requirement to have racking suitable for pallets, virtually everything about the project had to be bespoke but Darren never lost patience with the endless queries in the planning phase. Once on site, the team was professional, friendly, flexible and quick. They have delivered a solution which is perfect for our needs and exceeds our expectations. We are at the smaller end of their usual customer base, but we were never made to feel as though we were any less important than a major supermarket chain. We would certainly recommend them to anybody needing a controlled climate for storage (or any other reason)’

Dual Compartment Cold Room Installation, London
From the beginning I found Gem’s customer service fantastic, out of all of the companies we spoke to for quotes she was the most responsive and attentive. Even when we were still finalising and it wasn’t confirmed if we were proceeding with MTCSS yet, she was always great with keeping in contact to see if we needed anything, and very responsive with emails, and also phone calls.
Andy and Nathan, have been great throughout the entire process. Both have been on hand for any queries we have had and very responsive again to all forms of communication. Everything has been handled promptly and efficiently both before, during and after the build. Any questions we have had they have always gotten back to us with an answer very quickly.
The gentlemen who completed the install here on site, where very friendly and mindful of business operations while completing work. Each day they would check in with who was here in the morning to explain what they would be doing, what access they required, and asked if and how this might affect our operations or customers. Again, they were very clear and open with communication and was happy to help find solutions when we had issues with the shelving.
Overall our experience with you has been very good and we have been left a happy customer. I would also just like to say a thank you to yourself Gem, Nathan and Andy as you have all been very great throughout our customer journey!
